Nigerian Navy Recovers 39,500 Litres of Stolen Crude Oil

The Nigerian Navy has successfully recovered 39,500 litres of stolen crude oil in Rivers State, specifically in the Bonny Local Government Area. This operation was part of the Navy's intensified crackdown on illegal crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region.

According to Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Information for the Navy, the operation was conducted following credible intelligence. The anti-crude oil theft team discovered four dugout pits during the operation, with three containing an estimated 39,500 litres of suspected stolen crude oil, while the fourth pit was filled with water.

This discovery highlights the ongoing use of concealed storage facilities by syndicates involved in crude oil theft, which disrupts the logistics network sustaining such illegal activities. The Nigerian Navy is committed to dismantling these networks and has established operational procedures to prevent the re-establishment of similar facilities, thereby protecting critical national assets and supporting Nigeria's economic security.
