Nigerian Navy Discovers Illegal Fuel Depot in Rivers State

The Nigerian Navy, under the direction of Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed on Friday that personnel deployed in Operation Delta Sentinel discovered a concealed illegal fuel storage site in Rivers State. This site contained approximately 11,800 liters of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO).

The discovery was made by the Nigerian Navy ship NN Pathfinder during ongoing operations against crude oil theft and illegal oil bunkering in the area. The anti-crude oil theft team confirmed that the concealed site contained 125 sacks filled with the suspected product.

This operation aims to expose covert storage points believed to stockpile illegally refined petroleum products for onward distribution. The Nigerian Navy's efforts are focused on dismantling the infrastructure that enables crude oil theft and illegal refining, thereby disrupting the supply network that supports illicit fuel trade within the Niger Delta.

The recovered products were handled according to existing anti-crude oil theft procedures, underscoring the Navy's commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's critical economic assets.
