Nigerian Navy Seizes 52,600 Litres of Stolen Crude Oil

The Nigerian Navy successfully recovered an estimated 52,600 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in Rivers State. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, and was part of routine anti-crude oil theft patrols.

The Navy intercepted two wooden boats offloading the suspected petroleum products in the Ogoloma area of Okrika Local Government. A subsequent search revealed 250 sacks containing the crude oil, which was believed to be intended for illegal refining operations.

This operation underscores the Navy's commitment to disrupting criminal activities that feed into Nigeria's illegal refining value chain and to protecting the country's critical oil and gas infrastructure. The recovered materials were handled according to existing anti-crude oil theft procedures, reaffirming the Navy's dedication to intelligence-driven operations aimed at interdicting maritime economic sabotage.
