Nigerian and Kenyan Arrested for Narcotics Trafficking

On a recent operation, the Kenya Anti-Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the Transnational Organized Crime Unit, arrested two individuals suspected of narcotics trafficking. The operation was based on credible intelligence regarding a planned narcotics exchange in Syokimau, Machakos County.

However, upon arrival, the meeting was aborted, and the operation was redirected to Ruaka in Kiambu County. During a search of a house in Mbuti Apartments, authorities recovered several exhibits, including pellet-packaged substances, a digital weighing scale, a mobile phone, foreign passports, and cash in both Kenyan and Nigerian currencies.

The suspects were identified as Okek Ikechukwu, a Nigerian national, and Alex Opondo, a Kenyan national. They were escorted to the Pangani Police Station for processing, and the recovered exhibits were secured for forensic analysis.

Police confirmed that the suspects are expected to be arraigned in court today, and investigations are ongoing to trace additional suspects and dismantle a wider trafficking network.
