Nigerian Athletes Shine at Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Nigerian athletes made significant achievements. Ogazi became the first Nigerian man to win the Commonwealth Games 400m title, setting a new Games record of 44.25 seconds.

Adeshina made history as the first Nigerian athlete in 60 years to win a high jump medal, finishing third with a height of 1.90m. Nathaniel won gold in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 48.47 seconds, marking him as the first Nigerian man to achieve this feat.

Enekwechi secured gold in the men’s shot put with a throw of 21.07m, becoming the first Nigerian Commonwealth champion in this event. Onojuvwevwo won bronze in the women’s 400m, while Ajayi took bronze in the men’s 100m, making him the first Nigerian man to medal in this event since 2006.

Orji won silver in the women’s shot put, and Onwuzurike earned silver in the men’s 200m final.
