Nigerian Olayinka Hakeem Babalola Becomes Rotary President

Olayinka Hakeem Babalola has officially taken office as the president of Rotary International, marking a significant milestone as he becomes the second African to lead the global membership organization. His term will last for one year, during which he aims to enhance Rotary's contributions to peacebuilding and support sustainable community-led solutions to address both local and global challenges.

Babalola, a member of the Rotary Club Tran Amadi Nigeria, emphasized the importance of fostering meaningful relationships and collaboration among diverse communities, especially during times of societal division and uncertainty. He brings decades of experience in community development, peacebuilding, and public health initiatives across Africa.

Babalola will prioritize the global polio eradication initiative, which has successfully reduced polio cases by 99.9% through Rotary's efforts, contributing over $3 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect children from the disease. He will also oversee projects aimed at providing clean water, supporting education, and promoting economic growth.
