Nigeria's Electricity Supply Improved Since 2015, Says Bwala

Daniel Bwala, the special adviser to the president on policy communication, announced that Nigerians currently have more electricity than they did in 2015. During an appearance on Arise News, he highlighted improvements in electricity supply across various parts of Nigeria under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Bwala emphasized that this enhancement is not accidental but the result of deliberate policies and legislative interventions aimed at restructuring the power sector. These efforts have created a legislative environment conducive to increased capacity for state and local governments, as well as private sector participation in the generation and distribution of power.

He explained that ongoing reforms are designed to open the electricity market, allowing sub-national governments and private investors to play active roles in addressing supply gaps. While he acknowledged that challenges persist within the sector, he maintained that the changes are gradually translating into better electricity availability across different regions of the country.
