Wike Urges Yobo to Convey Nigerians' Frustration Over World Cup Miss

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed his disappointment regarding the Super Eagles' failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He urged former team captain Joseph Yobo to communicate the frustrations of Nigerians about this setback.

Wike spoke during the official inauguration of the Kuje-Gwagwalada road in Abuja, where he was among dignitaries present. He highlighted the pain of watching the World Cup without Nigeria's participation, especially given the abundance of Nigerian players competing in top leagues worldwide.

Wike pointed out that despite the tournament expanding to 48 teams, Nigeria still fell short in the CAF qualification campaign, ultimately being eliminated in the playoff after losing to Congo on penalties. He emphasized that Nigerians are unhappy with the national team's performance and urged Yobo to relay this sentiment to the Super Eagles.
