Sharia Council Urges Government Action on Insecurity

The Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria (SCSN), through its Secretary General Nafi'u Baba Ahmad, has criticized the federal government for its inadequate response to the escalating insecurity in the country. The council's statement highlighted the alarming rise in killings, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks across Nigeria, particularly in states like Borno, Oyo, Zamfara, and Katsina.

Despite repeated assurances from authorities, the situation remains dire, with thousands killed, abducted, or displaced in recent months. The SCSN expressed frustration over the lack of tangible progress and called for stronger government action, emphasizing that citizens are tired of empty promises.

The council also praised the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces and security agencies but urged for greater transparency in the use of security funds. The SCSN argued that Nigerians deserve effective governance and called for enhanced intelligence gathering, border security, and inter-agency cooperation to tackle criminal networks.
