NiMet Predicts Thunderstorms and Rains Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting thunderstorms and moderate rains across various parts of Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday. The southern region is expected to see widespread rainfall during this period.

The forecast, released in Abuja on Sunday, outlines different weather conditions for the northern, North Central, and southern regions. NiMet has warned of potential flash floods in coastal areas of the South and has advised residents, motorists, and airline operators to exercise caution as thunderstorms and heavy rainfall develop.

On Monday, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected in the northern region, while thunderstorms and moderate rains will occur in several states throughout the day. Rainfall activity is anticipated to continue into Tuesday and Wednesday.

NiMet cautioned that strong winds may precede thunderstorms and urged residents to secure loose objects. The agency has identified states at risk, including Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Taraba, Yobe, and Zamfara.
