NIS Extends UK Passport Intervention to October 2026

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the extension of its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom until October 3, 2026, following a significant turnout of applicants in London and Manchester. The extension was approved under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in response to the high demand for passport services.

Within the first four days of the exercise, 1,477 Nigerians were successfully processed, with over half of them receiving their passports. Initially scheduled to conclude on September 19, the extension aims to provide additional capacity for eligible applicants.

The NIS emphasized that applicants must book appointments via the High Commission's website and present necessary documents at their appointments. The passport application process is fully automated and cashless, with fees set at $162 for a five-year passport and $242 for a ten-year passport.
