NIS Extends UK Passport Services to October 3, 2026

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced an extension of its special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom until October 3, 2026, in response to a significant turnout of Nigerians seeking passport services. This decision was communicated in a statement by DCI Akinṣola Akinlabi, the Service Public Relations Officer, on September 11, 2026.

The extension applies to intervention centres located in London and Manchester, aimed at increasing capacity to meet the rising demand. Within the first four days of the exercise, 1,477 Nigerians were processed, with over half already receiving their passports.

The extended exercise will take place from September 19 to October 3, 2026, following approval from the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. Eligible applicants must book appointments via the High Commission of Nigeria's website.

The NIS expressed gratitude to Nigerians in the UK for their patience and cooperation, emphasizing its commitment to providing efficient passport services. The extension follows a disruption at the London centre due to unforeseen technical challenges.
