NIS Launches Summer Coaching Program in Uyo

The National Institute for Sports, in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, announced the commencement of an eight-week summer basic coaching program in Uyo. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen grassroots sports development and improve coaching quality across Nigeria.

The program is designed to bring together aspiring coaches from different parts of the South-South region and will expose participants to both theoretical and practical aspects of sports coaching. Modules will cover fundamental coaching practices, techniques, and athlete development.

Successful participants will receive a certificate from the National Institute for Sports. The program is open to football coaches, grassroots coaches, sports academy instructors, youth leaders, retired athletes, club coaches, and sport administrators.

Comrade Philip Shaibu, the leadership director and chief executive officer of the National Institute for Sports, emphasized the importance of expanding coach education as a critical pillar for sustainable sports development in Nigeria.
