NITDA Denies Involvement in CPM Fund Recovery Claims

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has issued a statement denying any involvement in claims related to the recovery of funds allegedly lost on an online market earnings platform identified as CPM. Hadiza Umar, the Director of Corporate Communications at NITDA, received reports indicating that subscribers to the platform were told that their systems had been hacked and that additional payments were required to resolve the issue.

NITDA clarified that these claims are false and misleading, emphasizing that the agency does not request money from citizens to assist in fund recovery. The agency advised the public to exercise caution and avoid making additional payments to individuals or groups claiming to act on behalf of NITDA.

NITDA also noted that such requests could be indicative of social engineering fraud aimed at exploiting victims. The agency remains committed to promoting cybersecurity awareness and protecting the public against online fraud.
