Nnadozie Returns to Brighton After WAFCON Setback

Chiamaka Nnadozie, the goalkeeper for Brighton Women, has resumed her duties with the club following a challenging outing at the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco, where she conceded six goals as the Super Falcons were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Additionally, she allowed two goals against South Africa during the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup playoffs.

Criticism arose regarding her performance as the Super Falcons, who are 10-time champions, failed to defend their title and missed out on a World Cup spot. Nnadozie, who previously played for Rivers Angels, is looking forward to the new season, with their opening fixture against Arsenal scheduled for Sunday at Broadfield Stadium.

In her debut season in the Barclays Women’s Super League, she achieved the highest save percentage at 74.7%, narrowly surpassing Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton. Nnadozie faced 83 shots on target in 19 league matches, saving 62 and keeping six clean sheets, which was the joint-fourth-highest in the league.
