Abia Comets Sack Coach Diprey Teibowei After Loss

Abia Comets have officially dismissed their head coach, Diprey Teibowei, after a poor run of form culminated in a disappointing home loss to Sunshine Stars on Saturday. Teibowei had previously been given a two-match ultimatum to improve the team's performance as they resumed the second stanza of the 2025/2026 season.

Despite his dismissal, the club has stated that Teibowei will continue to receive his full salary until the end of the season. In the interim, Eguavoen has been appointed to take charge of the team for the remainder of the season, with his first assignment being to prepare the squad for an upcoming clash against Inter Lagos.
