No Preferred Successor Announced for Oyo Governorship

On Thursday, the Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde responded to rumors regarding the governor's preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election. The rumors surfaced on Wednesday night, suggesting that Bimbo Adekanmbi, a former Commissioner for Finance during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, was being considered as Makinde's candidate.

Olanrewaju, a political associate, was reported to have claimed that Makinde is a loyalist within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and may adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform for the upcoming election cycle. However, the governor's aide clarified that no preferred candidate has been announced as of Thursday, indicating that discussions among party leaders and political stakeholders across the state are still ongoing.
