No FBI Criminal Record for President Tinubu, Says Omokri

Reno Omokri, Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, dismissed claims linking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to criminality based on FBI records, asserting that no criminal record exists against him. During an interview on Tuesday with Otega Ogra at the City Boy Movement headquarters in Abuja, Omokri stated that a record check requested by Nigerian authorities returned no criminal arrest record or wanted status for Tinubu.

He argued that the presence of information in law enforcement custody does not equate to evidence of a crime. Omokri also rejected the notion that the ongoing controversy represents a new criminal case against Tinubu, clarifying that the records sought pertain to an investigation from decades ago.

He mentioned his previous criticisms of Tinubu were based on his investigations and findings, which led to a change in his position. Omokri raised concerns about demands for the release of sensitive records and challenged Peter Obi to disclose any comparable FBI records regarding himself.
