Ogun Launches Operation Kosaye to Combat Cross-Border Crime

Operation Kosaye, initiated by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, represents a new security doctrine aimed at addressing cross-border crime, particularly along the Lagos-Ogun border. The operation, which began within a week of its launch, focuses on intelligence-led policing to deny criminals sanctuary in the forests straddling the two states.

The operation is coordinated by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu and involves Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode O jajuni and Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani. It targets ungoverned spaces and aims to rescue kidnapping victims while neutralizing criminal suspects.

Significant achievements include the recovery of sophisticated weapons and the destruction of criminal camps. Governor Abiodun emphasized that Operation Kosaye is not a one-time initiative but a sustained effort to enhance public confidence in the Nigerian Police Force.

He called for similar collaborative security frameworks across states to effectively combat organized crime.
