Wike's PDP Faction Rejects Wabara's Leadership Claims

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Nyesom Wike has countered claims made by Adolphus Wabara, the PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, regarding a leadership vacuum within the party. Wabara had announced that the Supreme Court's ruling left the PDP without recognized leadership, which Wike's faction disputes.

They argue that Wabara's tenure has expired and that the Supreme Court's ruling does not affect the legitimacy of the current National Working Committee (NWC) led by Abdulrahman Moham. The Supreme Court upheld the suspension of several party officials, including Samuel Anyanwu and Umar Batur, and ruled that actions taken by them, including the appointment of Moham as acting national chairman, were invalid.

Wike's faction maintains that the party's leadership structure remains intact and cautioned against misinterpretations of the Supreme Court's ruling. They urged Wabara to retract his statements, asserting that the Board of Trustees does not have the authority to assume the functions of the NWC.
