Insecurity in North Central Threatens Nigeria's Food Security

Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, expressed concerns that insecurity in the North Central region poses a significant threat to the food security of more than 200 million Nigerians. He made this statement during the North-Central Regional Security Summit held at the New Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi.

Alia highlighted the region's vital role in food production, stating that its farms supply food across Nigeria. He called for collaborative security approaches involving traditional rulers, border communities, and grassroots intelligence networks.

Alia emphasized the importance of unity among the region's people to confront insecurity and proposed practical measures to enhance security. He noted that the summit aimed to localize security responses to issues like banditry and farmer-herder clashes.

Alia commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to addressing insecurity and urged stakeholders to implement the summit's outcomes to foster peace and stability in the region.
