Nigeria Launches Early Warning Network for North Central

The Nigerian Government has launched the North Central Community Early Warning and Early Response Network to address insecurity in the North Central region. This initiative was unveiled on Monday during the 2026 North Central Security Summit at the New Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi.

The summit was organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North Central, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Defence, and hosted by the Benue State Government. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, attended alongside three governors and numerous stakeholders.

The network, led by Dr Abiodun Essiet, aims to connect communities with security agencies for efficient intelligence sharing. General Christopher Musa (Rtd), Minister of Defence, supported the initiative, highlighting the need for cooperation between government and citizens.

The summit focused on various security-related discussions, and pilot community hubs are expected to be activated across the six North Central states soon.
