North Korea Criticizes NATO, Vows Nuclear Expansion

North Korea's foreign ministry, through state media KCNA, condemned NATO for its military reinforcement and accused the alliance of accelerating arms buildup following a NATO summit in Turkey. The ministry claimed NATO leaders portrayed North Korea's military exercises as a threat, asserting that the alliance's actions deepen confrontations.

North Korea reiterated its position against Western efforts to persuade it to abandon its nuclear weapons, stating that denuclearization efforts must first address security concerns. The ministry highlighted South Korea and Japan's pursuit of their own nuclear capabilities under the U.S. nuclear umbrella, which involves NATO's nuclear sharing arrangements.

In response, North Korea announced its decision to strengthen its nuclear forces both quantitatively and qualitatively, with leader Kim Jong Un advocating for the modernization of the country's military.
