Northern Elders Support Defence Minister's Critique of El-Rufai

The Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development (CNEEPD) has publicly supported Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (rtd.) following his criticism of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. The coalition stated that Musa's remarks revealed the "true picture" of El-Rufai's administration, which they accused of leaving a legacy of division, controversial policies, and alleged maladministration.

They emphasized that El-Rufai's eight-year tenure should be subjected to rigorous public scrutiny. The statement, signed by Zana Goni (North-East), Dr Mohammed Suleman (North-West), and Prof. John Anaho (North-Central), argued that Musa's comments addressed issues affecting Kaduna's political stability and social cohesion.

The CNEEPD insisted that the former administration's governance style contributed to significant controversy and division among communities. They contended that a government's performance should be evaluated not just on physical projects but also on its ability to foster social cohesion and protect citizens' interests.

The coalition affirmed their support for Musa, rejecting claims that his comments were politically motivated.
