Kaduna Group Backs Defence Minister Against El-Rufai

The Kaduna State Muslim-Christian Network for Good Governance, an interfaith group, has expressed its support for Defence Minister General Christopher Musa following his comments about former Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai's administration. The group characterized Musa's remarks as an "honest and patriotic assessment" and condemned efforts to tarnish his reputation after his national television interview.

In a statement signed by Chairman Tahir Tanko and Secretary Steven Kefas, the group criticized the reactions to Musa's comments, accusing them of selective amnesia and ethno-religious rhetoric. They emphasized that residents witnessed the "divisive and arbitrary rule" of El-Rufai from 2015 to 2023, citing grievances such as unjust sackings of traditional rulers and workers, mishandling of insecurity, and the demolition of properties without compensation.

The group also referenced a viral video of El-Rufai discussing marginalization and accused him of weaponizing religion for political gain during his tenure.
