Northern Governors Launch Security Trust Fund in Kaduna

On Wednesday, the Northern Nigeria Governor Forum inaugurated the Northern Security Trust Fund in Kaduna, with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State as the chairman. This initiative is a response to the escalating insecurity in Northern Nigeria, which includes banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping.

The forum emphasized the need for prompt coordination and decisive measures to rescue the region from a potential collapse. The governors acknowledged the federal government's primary responsibility for national security but stressed the necessity for support from the 19 northern states to enhance federal security efforts.

The trust fund aims to establish a credible platform for resource mobilization and strategic support, aligning with federal security agencies. Yahaya noted that the board members were carefully selected for their expertise and commitment to tackling insecurity.

The governors reiterated their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration and its security agencies in restoring peace across the country.
