Arewa Forum Defends Tinubu Over NNPCL Recruitment Claims

The Arewa Forum, a northern group, held a press conference in Kaduna to defend President Bola Tinubu against allegations concerning the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The forum dismissed claims of ethnic bias in the company's recruitment process, asserting that there was no evidence of irregularities.

Aliyu Muhammad, a representative of the forum, stated that the recruitment exercise was merit-driven and aimed at filling critical vacancies within NNPCL. He clarified that the recruitment referenced in recent reports was from the third quarter of 2025 and was grossly misrepresented.

The forum also addressed concerns regarding funding for frontier oil exploration in Northern Nigeria, urging patience and understanding from the northern populace. They reaffirmed confidence in the governance structure of NNPCL and called for verified information to avoid spreading unverified claims that could undermine national unity.

The forum praised President Tinubu for creating a legal and policy framework to strengthen accountability within NNPCL.
