Northern Youth Groups Demand Inclusion in Tinubu's Government

Northern youth groups, including the Arewa Youth Solidarity for Good Governance, Arewa Youth Assembly, and Arewa Democratic Youth Stakeholders Forum, have called for intervention from political leaders in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration regarding the alleged marginalization of Arewa youths. This demand arose during a joint stakeholders’ meeting, where leaders expressed concerns that Seyi Tinubu, the President's son, was influencing youth-related appointments and political mobilization in a manner that disadvantages northern youths.

Amb. Abdul Garba Danbature, President of the Arewa Youth Assembly, proposed the formation of a high-powered consultation committee to engage key political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Hon. Iliya Baban Yawo criticized a proposal by Seyi Tinubu that recognized only two youth movements for the APC's 2027 mobilization, alleging they were dominated by Yoruba associates.

The groups warned that the exclusion of northern youths could impact their support for President Tinubu's re-election bid.
