Northern Senators Forum Mourns Alhaji Bamanga Tukur

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday. The Northern Senators Forum (NSF), led by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, expressed their condolences and paid tribute to Tukur, describing him as a significant figure in northern leadership and Nigerian history.

Tukur's career included pivotal roles such as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority from 1975 to 1982, Governor of the old Gongola State in 1983, Federal Minister of Industries from 1993 to 1995, and National Chairman of the PDP from 2012 to 2014. The NSF highlighted his commitment to governance and national unity, as well as his contributions to business through BHI Holdings and DADDO Group.

Tukur was also recognized for his leadership in the African Business Roundtable and NEPAD Business Group, advocating for intra-African trade. His character, marked by integrity and service, made him a mentor to many Northern Senators.
