PDP Mourns Former Chairman Bamanga Tukur's Passing

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed deep sorrow over the death of its former National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Mahmud Tukur, who died at his residence in Abuja on Saturday. The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, chaired by Honourable Abdulrahman Mohammed, issued a statement describing Tukur as an “irreplaceable loss” to both the party and the nation.

Tukur's distinguished career included serving as Governor of the defunct Gongola State from October to December 1983, Minister of Industries, and Chief Executive/General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority during the military era. He was elected National Chairman of the PDP in 2012 and led until his resignation in January 2014.

The PDP acknowledged his significant contributions to the party and Nigeria's democratic governance, emphasizing his wealth of experience and commitment to public service. The party extended condolences to Tukur’s family, friends, and the people of Adamawa State, recognizing his profound impact on Nigeria's political and economic landscape.
