Alhaji Bamanga Tukur Passes Away at 90, Buried in Yola

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who served as the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was the last Governor of the old Gongola State, died at the age of 90 in a hospital in Abuja. His family confirmed his passing on Saturday, September 12, 2026, stating that he died in the Federal Capital Territory.

Tukur's death occurred just three days before his 91st birthday, which would have been on September 15, 2026. Following his death, his remains were transported from Abuja to Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, where he will be buried according to Islamic rites.

Tukur held the traditional title of Tafidan Adamawa and had a public and business career that spanned several decades, influencing various periods of Nigeria's political history.
