IPOB Promises Election Boycott Unless Kanu's Appeal Heard

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) declared a boycott of the 2027 general elections across the South-East and other regions unless the Federal Government facilitates the hearing of the pending appeal for its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Chris Nwaogu, the Head of the Fourth Administrator Directorate of State (DOS) for IPOB, made this announcement in a statement.

He clarified that the proposed boycott should not be interpreted as a threat but rather a promise, urging the authorities to take responsibility to prevent it. IPOB insisted that discussions should be directed towards the APC government rather than the group itself.

The organization plans to keep its methods for pursuing the boycott undisclosed until closer to the elections to avoid potential hijacking by political interests. Additionally, IPOB accused political thugs of disrupting opposition rallies in Enugu State, warning that such intimidation tactics would be addressed.

The group also criticized the Federal Government and judiciary for delaying Kanu's appeal, challenging aspects of the judgment by Justice James Omotosho.
