NPA and ANLCA Collaborate to Alleviate Port Congestion

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) have joined forces to tackle persistent traffic congestion along the access roads to Apapa and Tin Can Port. During a strategic meeting held at NPA's corporate headquarters in Marina, Lagos, NPA's Managing Director, Dr.

Abubakar Dantsoho, and ANLCA's President, Chief Emenik Nwokeoji, agreed on the necessity for closer cooperation to ensure smoother port operations and eliminate bottlenecks affecting cargo movement. They discussed the introduction of an electronic call system (Eto) to regulate truck movement at the ports.

Dantsoho acknowledged that while the system has delivered its objectives, a robust framework is needed to permanently address traffic gridlock in the port corridor. The NPA is committed to modernizing port infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and meet international standards.

The collaboration aims to enhance trade facilitation and reduce delays in cargo access, with ANLCA pledging support for a coordinated task force to monitor truck movement.
