NPA Initiates Collaboration to Resolve Port Corridor Issues

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), under the leadership of Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, is initiating a collaborative approach to tackle challenges within the Nigerian port corridor.

During a stakeholder engagement at NPA's Marina headquarters, Dantsoho emphasized the need to resolve issues affecting access roads, particularly around Apapa and Tin Can ports, and extending to areas like Julius Berger and Oshodi. A significant concern is the overlap of jurisdiction among various agencies, which has led to operational inefficiencies and conflicts.

Dantsoho called for collaboration among different agencies to create a smoother operational environment, aiming to eliminate extortion and delays experienced in import and export processes. He reiterated the importance of Nigeria becoming a leading port hub in West and Central Africa and proposed the formation of a task force involving Lagos State and NPA stakeholders to address these jurisdictional challenges effectively.
