NPA and ANLCA Collaborate to Alleviate Port Congestion

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has entered into a partnership with the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) to tackle persistent congestion at the Apapa and Tin Can Island port corridors. Ikechukwu Onyemekara, the General Manager of Corporate Affairs at NPA, announced this initiative following a strategic engagement at NPA's headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, the Managing Director of NPA, commended the port management's commitment to efficiency, noting that recent rankings by the World Bank placed Nigerian ports among the top 20 improved ports globally.

This achievement aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's agenda for enhancing Nigeria's influence in global maritime governance. The partnership will focus on implementing an electronic call system to regulate truck movement, which is crucial for increasing trade volume and curbing gridlock.

Emenik Nwokeoji, ANLCA's National President, expressed support for closer collaboration and emphasized the need for direct involvement in managing the electronic call system to eliminate delays in port access.
