NPFL Announces August 28 Start for 2026/27 Season

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) confirmed that the 2026/27 season will officially kick off on Friday, August 28, 2026. The campaign is scheduled to conclude on May 30, 2027.

The league's calendar includes provisions for the Federations Cup and state qualification playoffs, which are set to take place in early February 2027. The first half of the season will conclude on December 19, 2026, with clubs entering a mid-season break from December 23, 2026, to January 6, 2027.

Additionally, the transfer window will remain open throughout January, allowing clubs to strengthen their squads ahead of the resumption of league action for the second half of the campaign. Defending champions Rangers International will begin the new season with the aim of retaining their title and securing their ninth NPFL crown.
