Super Falcons Receive $100k and Houses Before WAFCON

The National Sports Commission, led by chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, confirmed that the Super Falcons have received the houses and $100,000 cash rewards promised by President Bola Tinubu after their triumph in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Dikko announced this from Glasgow, where he is attending the Commonwealth Games, stating that all financial commitments have been fulfilled.

The presentation of house keys is scheduled for this week in Morocco, coinciding with the team's defense of their title. Dikko explained that the delay in the presentation was to ensure the players were together, which he believes will boost their morale ahead of the upcoming 2026 WAFCON, set to take place from July 26 to August 16 in Morocco.

The Super Falcons, as defending champions, are drawn in Group C and will face Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt. The team recently secured a warm-up victory against Tanzania, and head coach Justin Madugu has retained much of the squad from the previous title.
