NSCDC Arrests 10 Students Over Banned Celebration in Adamawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested ten secondary school graduates in Adamawa State for their involvement in the banned final-year celebration called "Signed Out." The arrests were announced by DSC Nyako Amidu Baba, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, who stated that the NSCDC Safe School Response Squad acted on credible intelligence linking students from Capital School, GDSS Demsawo, Doubelli, and Damilu to activities that posed public nuisance and threatened order. The celebration, which has raised concerns among parents and school authorities, was banned by the Adamawa State Ministry of Education last year due to associated violence and misconduct.

This year, the celebration reportedly escalated, with allegations of participants robbing the public. Investigations revealed that some arrested were not final-year students but rather in SS1 and SS2.

CC Nasiru Saleh, the State Commandant, has ordered a comprehensive investigation and emphasized the importance of collaboration with schools to ensure a safe learning environment.
