NSCDC Prevents Child Trafficking in Kano, Arrests Two

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, successfully thwarted an alleged child trafficking attempt, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Sadiq Muhammad Abdullahi, 25, and Destiny Joseph, 18. The arrests occurred at Wailari, Kano, following a report from a family member of one of the intended victims.

The minors, aged 10 and 12, were reportedly lured with promises of money and gifts, with the intention of trafficking them for financial gain. Preliminary investigations suggested that the children might have been targeted for ritual purposes.

Sadiq Muhammad allegedly took photographs of the minors to connect with a trafficking syndicate. The NSCDC State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, has instructed the Gender Unit to conduct a thorough investigation into the case and identify any additional individuals involved.

Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects will be handed over to the Kano Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further action.
