NSCDC Rescues 15 Minors from Human Trafficking in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully rescued 15 minors who were allegedly trafficked and sold for N2 million each in Nasarawa State. Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, reported that the suspect posed as an official of the National Council of Child Rights Advocate, deceiving parents into handing over their children under the pretense of an NGO and orphanage program called the Back to School Project.

The rescue operation was executed by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, led by Commander Dandaura Appollos. Out of the 16 trafficked children from Kama Madaki and Gudindi Mada communities in Kokona Local Government Area, 15 were rescued from their alleged buyers.

The operation involved advanced field tracking and technical intelligence, leading to the recovery of three victims in Anambra, Imo, and Enugu states, while 12 others were rescued in a coordinated effort across eastern transit routes. Three suspects, including one man and two women, were arrested, and the NSCDC maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards human trafficking.
