NSCDC and Red Cross Boost Flood Preparedness in Adamawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the leadership of Commandant Nasiru Saleh, has intensified flood readiness initiatives in Adamawa State in collaboration with the Nigeria Red Cross Society. This initiative aims to mitigate the impact of potential flooding, particularly in communities identified as high-risk following predictions from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) regarding increased rainfall.

The NSCDC conducted visits to several communities, including Boromji, Damare/Hayin Gada, Jambutu, Unguwa Tana, Bakin Kogi, and Viniklang/Unguwa Kabawa, providing residents with practical guidance on flood safety and emergency preparedness. The campaign emphasizes the importance of adhering to weather forecasts, relocating to safer areas during high-risk periods, and maintaining environmental sanitation to prevent disease spread.

Commandant Saleh reaffirmed the NSCDC's commitment to collaborating with humanitarian organizations and local communities to enhance disaster preparedness and response, urging residents to treat early warning information with urgency to prevent loss of life and property.
