NSCDC Personnel Survive Armed Ambush in Sokoto State

Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto State recently escaped an armed ambush, as disclosed by the State Commandant, Akinrun Emmanuel Ajayi, during a courtesy visit from the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Tuesday. Ajayi credited the survival of the personnel to an armoured vehicle supplied by the Sokoto State Government, which prevented bullets from penetrating.

He displayed a damaged security vehicle to illustrate the dangers faced by personnel during operations. Ajayi emphasized that without the state government's intervention, the incident could have resulted in fatalities.

He highlighted the risks security personnel encounter while protecting communities and stressed the critical role of journalists in informing the public about these realities. Ajayi called for stronger collaboration between the NSCDC and the media, assuring journalists of an open-door policy for information sharing.

He urged continuous engagement on security threats and emphasized that the fight against crime requires cooperation among security agencies, government institutions, communities, and the media.
