NSCIA Condemns School Attack, Urges Stronger Security

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), represented by Abba Jimoh, condemned a recent terrorist attack on the Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Borno State. This attack resulted in the death of a teacher and the abduction of students.

The NSCIA described the incident as a serious threat to Nigeria and reiterated the need for stronger actions against terrorism. The council expressed concern over the increasing kidnappings and killings of schoolchildren, labeling these acts as unacceptable crimes against humanity.

The NSCIA urged the government to improve intelligence gathering and surveillance, advocating for community-based early warning systems, citing Enugu State's technology-driven security system as a model. The council praised the armed forces, particularly the troops involved in Operation Hadin Kai, for their efforts in rescuing abducted victims and offered condolences to the families affected by the attack.

The NSCIA reaffirmed that Boko Haram and ISWAP are enemies of Islam and called for the arrest and prosecution of terrorists to restore peace and security across the country.
