NSDC Launches Training Program for Nigeria's Sugar Industry

The Nigeria Sugar Development Council (NSDC) has launched a pioneering elite training cohort as part of its initiative to drive Nigeria's sugar revolution. This residential training program is designed to implement the strategic framework of the Nigeria Sugar Master Plan (NSMP) 2.0, which aims to build a world-class workforce capable of transforming the nation's industrial landscape.

Kamar Barkin, the NSDC Executive Secretary and CEO, stated that the future of the industry relies on a new caliber of specialists to enhance efficiency and profitability across the value chain. The NSMP 2.0 focuses on accelerating land preparation, advancing irrigation, and improving the yield of sugar cane products, whether in the field or factory.

The maiden initiative has already exceeded expectations, demonstrating overwhelming demand and highlighting a significant technical talent deficit in the sector. The NSDC aims to address this gap through a dynamic experiential curriculum that prioritizes practical skills over conventional teaching methods.
