NUC Approves Six New Programs for University of Benin

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved six new full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the University of Benin, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session. This approval was confirmed in a statement by Dr. Benedicta Ehanir, the Public Relations Officer of the institution.

Among the newly approved undergraduate programs are a Bachelor’s in Speech Language Therapy and a Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy, which are part of efforts to address the shortage of experts in Nigeria's healthcare sector. Other approved undergraduate programs include B.Sc. in International Relations, B.Sc. in Intelligence and Security Studies, B.Ed. in Primary Education, and B.N.Sc. in Nursing Science.

The University of Benin will also offer Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Remote Sensing and Aeronautical Engineering through its Centre of Excellence in Space Science and Technology Applications. Vice Chancellor Prof. Edoba Omoregi SAN expressed appreciation for the NUC's gesture and reiterated the university's commitment to maintaining its leading position in training skilled manpower.
