NUC Approves 24 New Courses for Kwara State University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the full-time take-off of 24 new programmes at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, starting from the 2026/2027 academic session. This announcement was made by KWASU’s Director of University Relations, Prof. Saeedat Aliyu, in a statement on Wednesday in Ilorin.

The approval was communicated in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, and signed by Abubakar Girei, the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning. Among the new programmes, 14 are at the undergraduate level, including B.Sc.

Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, and B.Nsc.

Nursing Science, while 10 are at the postgraduate level, such as M.A. and Ph.D. Fine and Applied Arts and Ph.D.

Public Administration. Prof. Shaykh-Luqman expressed excitement over the approval and congratulated the university staff for their efforts in the resource verification exercise conducted by the NUC.
