NUJ Condemns Southern Kaduna Killings, Calls for Action

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, has condemned the recent resurgence of violent attacks and killings in Southern Kaduna. In a communiqué issued after their July 2026 Congress, the union called on security agencies to adopt intelligence-driven strategies to prevent further violence, arrest perpetrators, and protect lives and property.

They specifically urged for the unconditional release of victims abducted from Ariko Community in Kachia Local Government Area, who have been in captivity since April. The communiqué, signed by Usman Sani, Okpani Austine Agbo Emmanuel, and Lilian Silas, and electronically endorsed by Gambo Santos Sanga, expressed deep concern over the attacks and emphasized the need for effective intelligence gathering and preventive measures.

The union also sympathized with the people of Kauru Local Government Area regarding recent attacks and called for adequate security during the 2027 general elections to ensure that no eligible Nigerian is disenfranchised due to insecurity.
