Nursing Council Advocates for Policy Support in Abuja

During a conference held in Abuja, Dr. Emmanuel Udontr, the Director of Nursing Education, urged for enhanced policy support for private nursing practice. He highlighted the gap between nursing theory and clinical practice, which undermines service quality due to deficiencies in knowledge and skills.

Udontr stressed the importance of adopting digital health solutions, including e-learning, tele-nursing, and artificial intelligence, to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving healthcare environment. He noted that while there is existing collaboration among stakeholders, it is not fully optimized to achieve integrated and efficient patient-centered healthcare delivery.

Udontr pointed out the challenges in translating research findings into clinical practice, which limits improvements in healthcare outcomes. He called for regulatory bodies and healthcare institutions to reinforce professional standards and ethics, and to promote indemnity insurance for practitioners.

The conference brought together nursing leaders, academics, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss critical issues affecting the profession.
