JAMB Clarifies Role in HND Graduate Mobilization Issues

In a recent statement, Prof. Haq Oloyed, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), addressed concerns regarding the non-mobilization of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

He clarified that JAMB is not responsible for admitting HND students, as its mandate is limited to first-degree programs and Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) programs. Oloyed met with the leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) and explained that HND admissions are conducted by individual institutions, and JAMB's role ends once candidates seek HND admission.

He noted that there are approximately 42,000 cases of illegal admissions in polytechnics, which complicate the mobilization process for NYSC. Oloyed urged polytechnic institutions to adhere to proper admission protocols and emphasized that any admissions conducted outside the Central Admissions Process (CAP) are null and void.

He reiterated the importance of maintaining the integrity of the admission process to ensure quality education and service delivery.
