Tinubu Announces NYSC Reforms to Enhance Youth Training

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu announced significant reforms for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), stating that the organization will now be led by a civilian Director-General instead of a military officer. This change is part of a broader reform approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The NYSC orientation program will be extended from three to six weeks, allowing corps members to receive specialized training designed to improve their employability and entrepreneurship skills. Tinubu emphasized that the reforms aim to equip young Nigerians with practical skills while promoting national unity.

The program will focus on various sectors, including agriculture, health, education, technology, law, and public service. Additionally, corps members will undergo training in civic responsibility and leadership.

Tinubu also mentioned the need for a technology-driven mobilization process to better match corps members with their academic backgrounds and career paths. The reforms are part of Tinubu's commitment to creating opportunities for Nigerian youth and enhancing their contributions to national development.
